यह पढ़कर हमें स्कूल के दिन याद आ गए जब हमें क्लास में इसलिए नहीं बैठने दिया जाता था क्योंकि हाथ में मेहन्दी लगी होती थी. लड़को के हाथ से राखी उतरवा ली जाती थी अन्यथा फाइन भरना पड़ता था. ऐसे कई वाकये हुए होंगे जहां लड़के के माथे पर अगर टीका भी लगा हो तो उसे मुँह धुलने के लिए भेज दिया जाता था. स्कूल में हम मेहँदी इसलिए नहीं लगा पाते थे कि अगर सिस्टर (नन) ने देख लिया तो बहुत डांट पड़ेगी. हालांकि स्कूल में हिजाब पहनकर आने वाली लड़कियों पर ऐसी कोई पाबंदी नहीं थी. बचपन में कभी ये सवाल भी मन में नहीं उठा कि हम मौली तक नहीं बांध सकते पर कोई दूसरे धर्म का है तो उसे सब कुछ पहनने की अनुमति है?

हर राष्ट्रीय परीक्षा में हज़ारो लाखों बच्चों से मोजे, शर्ट सब उतरवा लिए जाते हैं. 2015 में एक स्कूल में बच्चियों के हाथ पत्थर पर रगड़वाए गए ताकि उनके हाथ से मेहन्दी हटाई जा सके. हर वर्ष कई बच्चों को इसकी स्कूल में घुसने नहीं दिया जाता क्योंकि वो होली खेल कर आए होते हैं. 2014 में दो बच्चियों ने होली खेलने के लिए स्कूल प्रशासन द्वारा डांटे जाने पर लेक में कूद कर आत्महत्या कर ली थी. इन बच्चियों की माँ किसी प्रोपोगेंडा में काम नहीं आएंगी. शायद दो मासूम जानें केवल इसलिए किसी लायक नहीं है क्योंकि उससे ‘अल्पसंख्यक खतरे में है’ की आग में घी नहीं डाला जा सकता.
