कोलकाता में हुई महागठबंधन की रैली में कई विपक्षी दलों ने हिस्सा लिया. तृणमूल कांग्रेस तो इस रैली की आयोजक और मेजबान ही थी. इसमें राष्ट्रीय जनता दल से तेजस्वी यादव, तेलुगूदेशम पार्टी से चंद्रबाबू नायडू, समाजवादी पार्टी के अध्यक्ष अखिलेश यादव, बहुजन समाज पार्टी से सतीशचंद्र मिश्र, डीएमके, राष्ट्रवादी कांग्रेस पार्टी के शरद पवार, असम के बदरुद्दीन अजमल और आम आदमी पार्टी केअरविंद केजरीवाल जैसे नेता शामिल हुए.
कांग्रेस प्रतिनिधि के रूप में मल्लिकार्जुन खड़गे और ममता बनर्जी की दया से राज्यसभा पहुँचे अभिषेक मनु सिंघवी भी रैली में शामिल हुए. इसमें हार्दिक पटेल, जिग्नेश मेवानी, शरद यादव जैसे नेता शामिल हुए जिन्हें एक राजनीतिक ठिकाने की तलाश है और अपना राजनीतिक अस्तित्व साबित करने की कोशिश में भाजपा नेता अरुण शौरी, यशवंत सिन्हा और शत्रुघ्न सिन्हा भी हिस्सा बने. भीड़ भी अच्छी थी और कई सारी पार्टियाँ भी जुटी. कांग्रेस के अलावा सभी पार्टी के वक्ताओं ने इसकी तुलना 1977 के रामलीला मैदान की जनता रैली से की. लेकिन यह तुलना पूरी तरह बेमानी है.
तृणमूल कांग्रेस की धुर विरोधी वाममोर्चा, ओड़िशा के मुख्यमंत्री नवीन पटनायक, चंद्रबाबू नायडू के प्रतिद्वंदी वाईएसआर कांग्रेस और तेलांगना राष्ट्रसमिति के चन्द्रशेखर राव और तमिलनाडू में डीएमके के प्रतिद्वंद्वी एआईएडीएमके रैली से दूर रही. इनमें वाममोर्चा के अतिरिक्त बाकी सभी दलों से भाजपा की एक राजनीतिक समझदारी पिछले 5 सालों में देखी गई है. भाजपा इन्हें अगले चुनाव के पूर्व या चुनाव पश्चात के सहयोगी के रूप में देख सकती है. रैली में शामिल असम के बदरुद्दीन अजमल, बसपा, सपा, कांग्रेस, तृणमूल कांग्रेस, राष्ट्रवादी कांग्रेस पार्टी और डीएमके से किसी तरह के सहयोग की आशा भाजपा पहले ही नही रखती है. मतलब इस रैली से राष्ट्रीय जनतांत्रिक गठबंधन की चुनाव पूर्व या चुनाव पश्चात के संभावित गठजोड़ों पर कोई असर नही दिखाई पड़ता.
प्रश्न उठता है कि तृणमूल कांग्रेस और शरद पवार के गठजोड़ से भाजपा को किस तरह का खतरा पैदा होगा? शरद यादव डीएमके की कैसी मदद करेंगे? जिग्नेश मेवानी जिसके साथ भी जाएंगे, उसके लिए जितने वोट जोड़ेंगे, उससे अधिक वोट तो तोड़ेंगे ही.
हार्दिक जब सूरत में कांग्रेस को नही जिता सके तो बदरुद्दीन अजमल को असम में कैसे जीता देंगे? आखिर डीएमके किस तरह झारखंड मुक्ति मोर्चा और राजद को झारखंड और बिहार में चुनाव जीतने में सहायक होगी? जाहिर है ये सभी दल अलग अलग चुनाव लड़ें या एक गठजोड़ के अंदर, इससे चुनावी समीकरणों पर शायद ही कोई प्रभाव पड़ेगा.
अबतक जो भी गठजोड़ बने हैं उनमें सपा और बसपा का गठजोड़ ही ऐसा है जिससे भाजपा के रणनीतिकारों की पेशानी पर बल पड़ना चाहिए. अगर आसन्न लोकसभा चुनावों के पहले पश्चिम बंगाल में तृणमूल और वाममोर्चा में, ओड़िशा में बीजू जनता दल और कांग्रेस में, आंध्र प्रदेश में तेलुगुदेशम पार्टी और वाईएसआर कांग्रेस में, हरियाणा में इनेलोद और कांग्रेस में, तमिलनाडु में डीएमके और एआईएडीएमके, तेलांगना में टीआरएस, कांग्रेस और तेलुगुदेशम में पार्टी में और आम आदमी पार्टी व कांग्रेस में गठजोड़ बने तो इसे भाजपा के लिए खतरा जरूर माना जाना चाहिए लेकिन ऐसे कोई संकेत आज भी दिख नही रहे.
इस रैली में ममता बनर्जी ने बंगाल की जनता के सामने स्वयं को तीसरा मोर्चा के नेता के तौर पर प्रस्तुत किया. लेकिन ऐसा लगता नही कि ममता कोलकाता छोड़कर दिल्ली की राजनीति करने की इच्छा रखती हैं. समाजवादी पार्टी के युवराज से महाराज बनते ही अखिलेश यादव ने जिस तरह अपने पिता की राजनीति को ही निपटा दिया उससे एकबात तो साफ है कि आने वाले समय मे कोई भी राजनीतिक क्षत्रप आखिरी समय तक उत्तराधिकार किसी को सौंपने से परहेज करेगा. दिल्ली में तीसरे मोर्चे की कोई सरकार बन भी गई तो उसका जीवन 2 वर्ष से अधिक तो होगा नही. और इसी कोशिश में कोलकाता की राजनीति हाथ से निकल जाने का खतरा है. ऐसे में भला क्यों कोई ऐसा खतरा मोल लेना चाहेगा?
ममता दरअसल भाजपा के बढ़ते ग्राफ को रोकने के लिए बंगाली प्रधानमंत्री का दांव खेलना चाहती हैं जिससे बंगाली भावना को उभारकर वे अधिक से अधिक लोकसभा सीटें जीत सकें. लेकिन उनकी ये कोशिश मायावती को सुहा नही रही है. तभी इस रैली में खुद आने की जगह मायावती ने सतीशचंद्र मिश्र को भेजा. कांग्रेस भी ममता के इन प्रयासों से खुश नही है. ममता की ये कोशिशें कांग्रेस को ही महत्वहीन बनाती हैं. यह विडंबना ही है कि महागठबंधन शब्द देने वाले नीतीश राष्ट्रीय जनतांत्रिक गठबंधन का हिस्सा बन गए हैं और तीसरे मोर्चे की कयावाद शुरू करने वाले के चन्द्रशेखर राव चंद्रबाबू नायडू की वजह से इस मुहिम से दूरी बना रहे हैं.
याद करें तो 1977 में जनता गठजोड़ में चार मुख्य दल शामिल थे- भारतीय जनसंघ, लोकदल, सोशलिस्ट पार्टी और कांग्रेस (संगठन). इन सभी दलों का प्रभाव पूर्व में ओड़िशा से लेकर उत्तर में जम्मू कश्मीर तक, दक्षिण में कर्णाटक और पश्चिम में महाराष्ट्र तक था. ऐसे में इनका साथ आना अलोकप्रिय हो चुकी इंदिरा सरकार के लिए बड़ा खतरा था. जगजीवन राम का कांग्रेस छोड़कर जनता पार्टी से गठजोड़ बनना भी एक बड़ी घटना मानी जाती है. कई लोग जगजीवन राम का कांग्रेस छोड़ने की घटना को ही जनता लहर का आधार मानते हैं.
इसके उलट हम देखते हैं कि वर्तमान महागठबंधन में कोई भी ऐसा दल नही है जिसका प्रभाव एक से अधिक राज्य में हो. उत्तर प्रदेश के अलावा किसी भी राज्य में प्रतिद्वंदियों ने अबतक साथ आने की घोषणा नही की है. भाजपा से किसी जगजीवन राम के निकलने की सम्भावना भी न के बराबर ही है.
लोग अक्सर भूल जाते हैं कि 1977 से पहले 1971 के चुनावों में भी विपक्षी दलों का एक गठजोड़ हुआ था जिसमें कांग्रेस (संगठन), भारतीय जनसंघ, संयुक्त सोशलिस्ट पार्टी, प्रजा सोशलिस्ट पार्टी और स्वतन्त्र पार्टी शामिल थी. लेकिन इसके बाद भी इंदिरा गाँधी ने सबसे बड़ी जीत हासिल की और विपक्ष की बुरी दुर्गति हुई. चुनावी राजनीति और अंकगणित का वैसे भी हमेशा से 36 का आँकड़ा रहा है. कोई भी गठजोड़ तभी काम करेगा जब सरकार के प्रति जनता में गुस्सा हो. गुस्सा पैदा करने के लिए अदालती फैसले के बाद भी राफेल का मुद्दा बेवजह खींचा जा रहा है और जबरन आपातकाल की कल्पना की जा रही है. लेकिन कृत्रिम गुस्से से भाजपा को हराया जा सकेगा या नही, यह देखने वाली बात होगी.
