प्रिय देशवासियों!

आप सब दीपावली की तैयारियों में व्यस्त होंगे। दीपावली रौशनी का त्यौहार है, ऐसा तो बचपन से आप भी पढ़ ही रहे होंगे। और हर साल की तरह इस साल भी कुछ बेगैरत लोग आपके इनबॉक्स में, फेसबुक या ट्विटर टाइमलाइन पर किसी अल्लाहाबादी, मुरादाबादी, आजमी या बरेलवी की घटिया तुकबन्दी चेंप ही रहे होंगे जिसमें उस घटिया शायर ने दीपावली को रौशनी का त्यौहार बताया होगा ताकि उसका दीन भी बचा रहे और नगरसेठ से कुछ जलेबी और इनाम इकराम भी मिल ही जाये। इन बेगैरत लोगों को अरबी लिपि का अ भी नही आता, जिसमें उर्दू लिखी जाती है। फिर भी ये उर्दू के घटिया शेर ही आपसे साझा करते हैं जबकि देवनागरी लिपि में लिखी रामचरितमानस की चार चौपाई ये आपसे साझा नही कर सकते जिसको पढ़ने की सलाहियत इनको भगवान ने दी है और इनके दादा-नाना बरसों उन्ही चौपाइयों का पाठ कर इनकी सुबह करते रहे होंगे।

दरअसल ये बेगैरत लोग खुद भी उन घटिया शायरों के जैसे ही हैं जिनकी शायरी ये आपसे साझा करते हैं। ये लोग पूरे साल इसबात की योजना में बिता देते हैं कि अगली बार ईद पर अच्छी सिवई और खुशबूदार बिरयानी कहाँ से जियादा से जियादा मिल सकेगी। और जिन दोस्तों से इन्हें ये दो चीजें मिलने की उम्मीद रहती है उनके पसन्द-नापसंद को ध्यान में रखते हुए ही ये अपनी टाइमलाइन सजाते हैं।

अब ये तो बेगैरत हैं। जो इनको करना है सो करते हैं। लेकिन आप तो सनातनधर्मी हिन्दू हैं। आप इनके षड्यंत्रों का शिकार होने से स्वयं को और अपनी भावी पीढ़ी को बचाएं। आप कभी न भूलें कि तीन युगों से और सहस्त्रों वर्षों से दीपावली आपके परिवार में, ग्राम में, नगर में क्यों मनाया जा रहा है। यह ऐसी कथा है जिसको सबने पढ़ा है, पढा न हो तो सुना तो अवश्य ही होगा, महानतम कथा है, अनगिनत भाषाओं में लिखी गई है, उसके ही पुनर्पाठ की आवश्यकता है।

महाराज दशरथ ने अपने ज्येष्ठ पुत्र मर्यादा पुरुषोत्तम प्रभु श्रीरामचन्द्र जी के राज्याभिषेक की घोषणा कर दी थी। अगली सुबह प्रभु का राज्याभिषेक होना था। किंतु परिस्थिति ऐसी बनी की प्रभु को 14 वर्षों के लिए वनवास का आदेश हुआ। अवध की प्रजा जो अपने प्रिय राजकुमार को राजा बनते देखने को अधीर हो रही थी, उसके हृदय पर वज्राघात हुआ। इधर प्रभु वन गये, उधर पुत्रवियोग में महाराज दशरथ परलोक सिधार गये। राजकुमार भरत ने अयोध्या का राजा बनने से मना कर दिया। फिर गुरुजनों और कुटुम्बों के सुझाव से तय हुआ कि प्रभु श्रीराम 14 वर्ष बाद वनवास का वचन पूर्ण कर वापस अयोध्या आएंगे और राज्य संभालेंगे।

ये 14 वर्ष अवध पर बहुत ही भारी था। प्रजा हर दिन गिनते हुए अपने राजा की प्रतीक्षा कर रही थी। और वन में प्रभु वनवास की प्रतिकूलताओं का सामना कर रहे थे। फिर रावण का वध कर, माता सीता को मुक्त करा, प्रभु श्रीराम अवध नगरी को वापस आये। 14 वर्षों बाद अवध की प्रजा ने अपने राजा के दर्शन किये। प्रभु श्रीराम ने भी तो 14 वर्षों बाद ही अपनी जन्मभूमि का दर्शन किया, जिस अयोध्या के स्वर्णजड़ित लंका से तुलना पर स्वयं रामचन्द्र जी ने कहा था- जननी जन्मभूमिश्च स्वर्गादपि गरीयसी। अर्थात माता और जन्मभूमि स्वर्ग से भी महान है।

तुलसीदास जी लिखते हैं

जद्यपि सब बैकुंठ बखाना। बेद पुरान बिदितजगु जाना।।

अवधपुरी सम प्रिय नहिं सोऊ। यह प्रसंग जानइ कोउ कोऊ।।

जब भगवान का अयोध्यागमन हुआ तब कार्तिक अमावस्या थी, जब रात सबसे अधिक अंधेरी होती है। लेकिन अवध की प्रजा के लिए उन 14 कठिन वर्षों की रातें ही सबसे अंधेरी थी। आज जब रामचंद्र जी वापस अवध पधारे थे तो प्रजा ने दीप जलाकर अमावस्या की काली अंधेरी रात को पराजित किया और वह रात सबसे दिव्य बन गई। इस रात के बाद जो सूर्योदय हुआ उसने रामराज्य देखा। और तब से आजतक, युग बीतते गये, समय की गणना छूट गई। राम के बाद इस भूमि पर कितने ही शासक आये। इनमें कुछ दुष्ट थे और कुछ प्रजावत्सल। भारत भूमि से योरोप तक ध्वज फैलाने वाले चक्रवर्ती सम्राट भी हुए। लेकिन प्रजा के लिए रामराज्य ही आदर्श रहा और राम ही आदर्श राजा हुए।

गत 1000 वर्ष जब सबसे भारी संकटों का दौर था, जब पवित्र भारत भूमि पर दुष्ट म्लेच्छों का नियंत्रण था, जब आशा की हर किरण बुझती जा रही थी, जब गजनी, गोरी और बाबर इस पवित्र भूमि को रौंद रहा था। तब दीपावली पर जलने वाले ये दीप और रामायण की महान गाथा ही सनातनधर्मी हिंदुओं का सम्बल बनकर उन्हें धैर्य और शक्ति प्रदान कर रहे थे। यथा राजा, तथा प्रजा को भी गत हजार वर्षों में प्रजा ने नही माना क्योंकि प्रजा के लिए राजा तो बस रामचंद्र ही थे। ये म्लेच्छ शासक हो सकते थे, राजा नही।

दीपावली का त्यौहार सुशासन का, प्रजावत्सलता का, न्याय का, मनुष्यता का, सत्य का, मातृभूमि से प्रेम का, पुरुषार्थ का, आशा का उत्सव है। दीपावली पर दीप जलते हैं क्योंकि इस दिन रामचन्द्र जी वापस आये थे न कि रामचन्द्र जी इसलिए वापस आये थे क्योंकि दीप जल रहे थे।
