किस काल में कौन सी चीज समाज का दर्पण हो, यह उस काल के समाज पर निर्भर करता है। प्राइमरी या मिडिल स्कूल के विद्यार्थी के लिए पहले साहित्य समाज का दर्पण होता था। अब नहीं है। साहित्यकार, आलोचक और प्रकाशक की तिकड़ी की भूमिका ने रहने नहीं दिया। बाद में एक तरफ सिनेमा वालों ने दर्पण दिया तो दूसरी तरफ राजनीति वालों ने भी दिया। वैसे और माध्यम भी पीछे नहीं रहे।
इतिहास देखें तो यह काम हिंदी सिनेमा के गानों ने दशकों से अपने हाथ में ले रखा था. वे हर एक-दो महीनों में समाज को दर्पण थमाते रहते हैं। समाज इन गानों में अपनी छवि देखकर मस्त रहता है। आज से ६०-७० वर्ष बाद अगर कोई शोध करने वाला इस विषय पर शोध करेगा तो बड़ी तन्मयता के साथ हर काल के गानों को आगे रखकर सिद्ध कर देगा कि उस काल का समाज कैसा था।
प्रेम में दिल के महत्व जैसे विषय पर काम करने वाले शोधार्थी के पास गानों की कमी कभी नहीं रहेगी।
जैसे नब्बे के दशक के गाने; “धीरे-धीरे आप मेरे दिल के मेहमां हो गए, पहले जान, फिर जान-ए-जान, फिर जान-ए-जाना हो गए” की चीर-फाड़ करते हुए शोधार्थी लिखेगा; “इस गीत के बोल से साबित होता है कि इस काल का नायक अपनी नायिका को एकदम से दिल का मेहमां नहीं बनने देता था। वह इस काम को धीरे-धीरे करने में विश्वास रखता था। वह पहले नायिका को जान बनाता था, फिर जान-ए-जान और बहुत ठोंक-पीट कर ही जान-ए-जाना बनने देता था। इस काल के नायक का विश्वास ‘लउ’ एट फर्स्ट साइट में नहीं था। इस गीत से यह प्रमाण भी मिलता है कि प्रेम की तमाम पदवी में नायिका के लिए जान-ए-जाना सबसे महत्वपूर्ण पदवी होती थी। कुछ समाजशास्त्रियों का मानना है कि इस काल का नायक चूंकि ज्यादातर नौकरीशुदा होता था इसलिए वह कंपनियों के एच आर डिपार्टमेंट द्वारा प्रतिपादित तरक्की के सिद्धांतों में विश्वास रखता था। कुछ एच आर एक्सपर्ट्स का मानना है कि अगर इस गाने के बोल को एक नौकरीशुदा इंसान के नौकरी में लगने से लेकर उसके प्रमोशन से तुलना की जाय तो जान की तुलना अप्वाइंटमेंट, जान-ए-जान होने की तुलना नौकरी के परमानेंट होने और जान-ए-जाना होने की तुलना असिस्टेंट मैनेजर बनने से की जा सकती है।
अपने इस सिद्धांत को सही ठहराने के लिए शोधार्थी उसी काल के एक और गीत; “आँखों में बसे हो तुम, तुम्हें दिल में बसा लूंगा ….” का भी सहारा ले सकता है। वह लिख सकता है; “इस गीत से इसे गाने वाले नायक के भी नौकरीशुदा होने के प्रमाण मिलते हैं। इस गीत में नायक अपनी नायिका को सूचना देते हुए बता रहा है कि नायिका फिलहाल आँखों में ही बसी है और दिल में बसने के लिए उसका प्रमोशन होना ज़रूरी है। कि नायक की कंपनी की एच आर पॉलिसी के अनुसार नायिका का आँखों में बसने का अर्थ है उसे अभी केवल अप्वाइंटमेंट लेटर मिला है और कुछ महीनों बाद जब उसका अप्रेजल होगा और तब अगर नायक संतुष्ट हुआ तभी वह नायिका को दिल में बसने देगा।”
नायक और नायिका के गुणों में अंतर बताते समय शोधार्थी यह भी साबित कर सकता है कि नायिका चूंकि नौकरीशुदा कम ही होती थी इसलिए वह नायक को फट से दिल में बसा लेती थी। अपनी इस थ्योरी के समर्थन में वह “दिल में तुझे बसा के, कर लूंगी मैं बंद आँखें …” जैसे गीत का सहारा ले कर बता सकता है कि नायक ज्यादातर प्रेम में घुटे हुए रहते थे लिहाजा जहाँ नायिका अपने नायक को फट से दिल में बसाकर आँखें बंद कर लेती थी, वहीँ नायक पहले नायिका को आँखों में बसाता था और पूरी तरह से देखने परखने के बाद ही दिल में बसने देता था। नायक का यह स्वभाव उनदिनों उसके प्रेम में सावधानी बरतने की बात को पुख्ता करता है।
प्रेम में लिप्त नायक के जीवन में दिल का क्या महत्व रहता था इसबात पर प्रकाश डालते हुए शोधार्थी लिख सकता है; “प्रेम में गिरे नायक के दिल में एक झरोखा भी रहता था जिसमें वह यदाकदा नायिका को बिठाता था। प्रसिद्द गीत दिल के झरोखे में तुझको बिठाकर यादों को तेरी मैं दुल्हन बनाकर रखूँगा मैं दिल के पास ….गीत से यह प्रमाण मिलता है कि प्रेम में असफल नायक जब सत्य को स्वीकार कर लेता था तब वह नायिका को अपने दिल से निकाल कर दिल के इसी झरोखे में बिठा देता था और नायिका को दुल्हन न बना पाने की स्थिति में उसकी यादों को ही दुल्हन बनाकर संतुष्ट हो लेता था। संतोषगति प्राप्त नायक के पास और कोई चारा नहीं होता था इसलिए वह नायिका को सूचना देते हुए बताता था कि नायिका को उदास होने की ज़रुरत नहीं है क्योंकि वह दुल्हन न बन सकी तो क्या हुआ, उसकी यादें तो नायक की दुल्हन बन ही सकती हैं।”
प्रेम में दिल के महत्व को समझाते हुए शोधार्थी लिख सकता है कि ; “दिल का हाल सुने दिलवाला …” नामक गीत से इसबात का प्रमाण मिलता है कि उनदिनों हर दिल का कोई न कोई हाल होता था जिसको कोई दूसरा दिलवाला ही सुनता था। अगर कोई किसी के दिल का हाल नहीं सुनता तो यह साबित हो जाता था कि हाल सुनाने वाले के पास तो दिल है लेकिन उसे न सुनने वाले के पास दिल नहीं है। वह आगे लिख सकता है; “हालांकि, इसबात का रिकॉर्ड नहीं मिलता कि बिना दिलवाले जिन्दा कैसे रहते थे? किसी वैज्ञानिक ने इसबात पर रिसर्च नहीं किया कि दिल का हाल न सुनने वाले दिलहीन इंसानों के शरीर में खून की आवाजाही कैसे होती थी?”
एक प्रश्न कि ; “जीवन में दिल ज्यादा महत्वपूर्ण है या जान?” पर शोधार्थी लिख सकता है; “तमाम गीतों की चीरफाड़ करने पर यह पता चला है कि प्रेम-प्रसंग में जान दिल से ज्यादा महत्वपूर्ण होती है। महान गीत ‘दिल चीज़ क्या है आप मेरी जान लीजिये ..‘ से यही बात साबित होती है कि उनदिनों जान की कीमत दिल से ज्यादा होती थी। हाँ, यह मानना पड़ेगा कि जान दिल से भले ही कीमती होती थी लेकिन प्रेम में पागल नायिका वह भी देने के लिए तैयार रहती थी और उसके के लिए भी उसकी बहुत छोटी सी शर्त रहती थी। शर्त यह कि नायक बस एक बार उसका कहा मान ले तो नायिका को जान देने से गुरेज नहीं थी. इससे इस बात के प्रमाण भी मिलते हैं कि नायक लोग नायिकाओं का कहा बड़ी मुश्किल से मानते थे। नब्बे के दशक के एक और गीत ‘दिल क्या चीज़ है जानम अपनी जान तेरे नाम करता है ..’ से भी यह बात साबित होती है कि प्रेम में लिप्त नायक भी जान के आगे दिल को कुछ नहीं समझता था और अपनी जान नायिका के नाम करने के लिए तत्पर रहता था। एक और गीत दिल, नज़र, जिगर क्या है, मैं तो तेरे लिए जान भी दे दूँ …गीत से भी इस बात की पुष्टि होती है कि जान केवल दिल से ज्यादा महत्वपूर्ण नहीं थी बल्कि नज़र और जिगर से भी ज्यादा महत्वपूर्ण होती थी और श्रेष्ठ प्रेम में जान देने को भी सबसे ऊंचा दर्जा दिया गया था.
