कौन हैं ये गंजहे और कहाँ से आते हैं? आख़िर क्यों इन ‘गंजहों की गोष्ठी’ हो रही है? जो ज़मीन से जुड़ा हुआ, अंगद की तरह एक पाँव धरती मे गाड़े हुए विचारों को आकाश की ऊँचाईयों तक ले जा सकता हो, वही गंजहा है. हर गंजहा समाज के किसी न किसी वर्ग का प्रतिनिधित्व करता है. साकेत जी की ‘गंजहों की गोष्ठी’ ऐसे ही अनेक गंजहों की बातों पर आधारित व्यंग्य कथाओं का संकलन है. 

साकेत जी का लिखा हुआ व्यंग्य ज़मीन से जुड़ा हुआ सत्य लगता है. कहीं प्रत्यक्ष कहीं अप्रत्यक्ष रूप से वे घटनाओं के मार्मिक पहलुओं को छू जाते हैं. घटनाएँ होती हैं, समाचार आते हैं, लोग देखते हैं, सुनते हैं, अपने हिसाब से समझते हैं और फिर भूल जाते हैं. लेकिन उन समाचारों मे छिपी हुई विडंबना को व्यंग्य के रूप मे लिखकर एक संदेश देने का काम साकेत जी ने किया है.  

छोटे छोटे व्यंग्य पढ़ते हुए जब आप धीरे धीरे मुस्कुराते हुए पन्ना पलटते हैं, तब आप एक कस्बे को पाते हैं जो ‘गाँव के लार्वा और शहर की खूबसूरत तितली के बीच का टेडपोल है’ और फिर बसेसर गाँव, कस्बों और शहरों मे हो रहे तत्कालीन बदलाव की झलक दिखा जाता है.  

चुनावों के घमासान से परेशान सामान्य व्यक्ति के मन का प्रतिबिंब दिखाते हुए साकेत जी लिखते हैं; “तो क्या सत्ता बदलने से जनता के जीवन मे परिवर्तन आता है? परिवर्तन तो नही आता, परंतु आनंद बहुत आता है, इसी पंचवर्षीय मनोरंजन की व्यवस्था का नाम लोकतंत्र है”.

बाबर का अफ़ग़ानिस्तान से बोरों मे भरकर भूमि लाने वाला प्रसंग अत्यंत रोचक हैं और उन स्वघोषित इतिहासकारों पर तीक्ष्ण व्यंग्य करता है जिन्होंने इतिहास के साथ भयंकर छेड़छाड़ कर अनेक पुस्तकें किसी एक शासक और आक्रांता तक के स्तुतिगान में लिख डाली हैं. साकेत जी आपको समय से आगे भी ले जाते हैं, वहाँ से खींच कर बहुत पीछे ले आते हैं, आप झूल ही रहे होते हैं कि स्वयं को वर्तमान में पाते हैं.

वे आपको अपनी कल्पना से भविष्य की क्रूर संभावनाओं के खारेपन मे डुबकी लगवाते हुए कहते हैं; “हिंदुत्त्व की धारा को जितना प्रवाहित होना था हो चुकी है, कांग्रेस और भाजपा का विलय हो चुका है.” समाज के कुछ नवोदित बुद्धिजीवियों ने भारत के महान राजाओं की जाति ढूंढनी शुरू कर दी है. उसी जातिवाद पर कटाक्ष करते हुए सम्राट अशोक से भी उनकी जाति पूछ लेने का प्रसंग खींच लाये हैं जब अशोक महान के भी अगड़ा या पिछड़ा होने की चर्चा होती है.

उन्होंने अपनी पुस्तक में उन लोगों को पर भी कटाक्ष किया है जो प्रधानमन्त्री से अपने इशारों पर चलने की अपेक्षा रखते हैं; “जहाँ जम्बूद्वीप निवासियों का विचार था कि प्रधानमंत्री काम करने के साथ उनकी ओर से विरोधियों से लट्ठमलट्ठा भी कर सकेंगे.”

आधुनिक व्यंग्य की भाषा अमर्यादित होती जा रही है, अश्लीलता व्यंग्य का अंग बनता जा रही है. ऐसे में यह पुस्तक साफ़ सुथरी और सरल भाषा में बिना एक भी अश्लील वाक्य के आपके सामने है.

छोटी सी पुस्तक है, छोटे-छोटे  व्यंग्य हैं. गंभीर विषय हैं परंतु उनपर जो लिखा गया है, वह आपको मुस्कुराने पर बाध्य करता है और फिर आप सोच में पड जाते हैं. हिन्दी प्रेमियों और विशेषकर व्यंग्य पसंद करने वालों को यह पुस्तक अवश्य पढ़नी चाहिए.
