कुरुक्षेत्र में बने योद्धाओं के कक्ष। पितामह के आगे धर्मराज युधिष्ठिर, अर्जुन, भीम और वासुदेव कृष्ण उदास बैठे हैं। पितामह उनको बता चुके हैं कि शिखंडी को आगे रखकर उन्हें कुरुक्षेत्र में मारा जा सकता है। थोड़े संशय के पश्चात पांडवों ने उनकी बात स्वीकार कर ली है। निर्णय हो चुका है कि अगले दिन अर्जुन के रथ पर केशव के स्थान पर शिखंडी विराजमान होंगे।
इसके पश्चात केशव योग कक्ष में चले गए। उन्होंने सोचा कि अगले दिन मिली छुट्टी को कैसे बिताया जाय, इस प्रश्न पर विचार वे योग कक्ष से निकलने के पश्चात करेंगे। जब योगकक्ष से निकल जब उन्होंने धर्मराज युधिष्ठिर के कक्ष में प्रवेश किया तो देखा कि उनकी बुआ कुंती, धर्मराज, अर्जुन, भीम, नकुल और सहदेव मुँह लटकाए बैठे थे। उन्हें चिंतित देख केशव बोले; “बड़े भइया, क्या हुआ? आपसब इतना चिंतित क्यों हैं?”
उनके इस प्रश्न पर जब किसी ने कुछ नहीं कहा तो वे बोले; “बड़े भइया, आपसब को तो हर्षित होना चाहिए कि स्वयं पितामह ने अपनी मृत्यु का मार्ग दिखा दिया है। अब आपसब की विजय निश्चित है”
जब फिर भी शांति छाई रही तब उन्होंने बुआ कुंती से पूछा; “बुआ, अच्छा तुम्हीं बताओ, क्या हुआ सबको?”
कुंती ने कहा; “सब नैतिकता के प्रश्न से भयभीत हैं पुत्र”
कुंती की बात सुन केशव बोले; “कैसा भय? कौन सा प्रश्न?”
अब धर्मराज ने बोलना शुरू किया; “हे केशव, हमारी चिंता का कारण यह है कि कल जब दिन का युद्ध समाप्त होगा और पोस्ट डे’ज बैटिल साढ़े पाँचबजे प्रेस काँफ़्रेंस में अनुज सहदेव पत्रकारों से बात करेगा तब पितामह को मारने के लिए नैतिकता की बलि चढ़ाने के प्रश्न पर वह क्या उत्तर देगा?”
धर्मराज की बात सुनकर केशव ज़ोर ज़ोर से हँसने लगे। हँसी रुकी तो बोले; “बस इतनी सी बात? बड़े भइया, कल पोस्ट डे’ज बैटिल साढ़े पाँच बजे की प्रेस काँफ़्रेंस में पत्रकारों के प्रश्नों का उत्तर अनुज सहदेव नहीं मैं दूँगा”
